Brand New School creates seamless VFX in ‘Forecast’
Design studio Brand New School creates a series of brilliantly finished environments, seamlessly linked with an eye-catching narrative in a new spot for Honda
Alongside the visual effects and unassuming presentation of the car, which is quite a change in direction for car ads, the 30-second spot includes artful graphic design and great finishing, resulting in a light-hearted visual narrative.
VFX supervisor Vadim Turchin led the team of artists, who first tracked the live-action scenes before rotoscoping the background and the Honda CR-V vehicle. A matte painting was then created for the background, which was projected onto 3D geometry in Maya.
All the elements were then put together in After Effects, along with additional plates, particle effects, and initial colour correction. Final colour was handled in Flame.
