Check out the latest work from FX studio Akitipe, which has completed work on a new ident for Discovery Science
Titled ‘The Human Element’, Akitipe Studios used 3ds Max’s particle system to show a man turn slowly to rock, before breaking down, igniting, and exploding in smoke.
The physics simulation was the most challenging part of the project for Akitipe, who found that the simulations would go wrong if applied to a moving model.
“To solve this we cached all the movement data from the rigged model before activating the physics simulation,” says CG director Sawoozer.
