At just over two hours, this training course explains how to create a simple model and, using basic techniques, transform it into a detailed asset with a clear and well rehearsed structure.

The tutorial is aimed at artists who are familiar with the software but the combination of slow pace and coherent nature allows artists of all levels to follow it with ease.

Time is taken to explain workflows within each programme and best working practices, leaving the artist to decide how best to complete their individual learning.

The training spends about three quarters of its running time in ZBrush 4, and covers basic aspects such as importing and modifying geometry as well as the many different paint options available.

It then moves on to more detailed elements surrounding additive and subtractive sculpting and UV mapping tools, all of which provides fundamental information needed for an artist to work on solo projects.

Highlights include a detailed explanation of how to easily import and export files between the two programmes using the GoZ tool; before and after any modifications.

It also provides a good insight to the endless possibilities of the brush palette within ZBrush 4, explaining the different options and what they are best suited to.

Verdict
