Ten24 has posted some original character models from one of the most talked about video games of 2011: Dead Island

The Dead Island trailer has almost 4 million hits on YouTube

Ten24 has posted a range of character models from its work on the Dead Island trailer, which it worked on alongside Axis Animation and Infinite-Realities.

Following the release of the emotive and ultra-real trailer for the zombie action-adventure game last month, Ten24 has posted the models to show the initial processes and zombification of the characters.

Once the models were completed by Ten24, the team at Axis refined, shaded, rigged, lit, and animated the characters into the final trailer.

Ten24 also worked on cleaning up mo-cap data, creating bloody woulds and textures, and also some hard-surface environment modelling and texturing.

The artists that worked on the models were James Busby, Chris Rawlinson, Ross Mansfield, Mariano Steiner, and Paul Clayton.

Read more about the Dead Island trailer when Axis Animation co-founder Stu Aitken talks about the project in the next issue of 3D World: Issue 142, on sale 7 April, which can be bought in either a print or digital edition.

View some examples of the work and watch the trailer below. To see the full set of character models visit the Ten24 website.
