The latest version of Chaos Group’s rendering technology is now compatible with Autodesk Maya, bringing interactive rendering on CPU and GPU to the 3D application
The new features, which can be seen in the video overview above and in more detail on Chaos Group’s YouTube channel also include support for dispersion in refractions for VRayMt, the addition of PTex textures and VRayCarPaint material – a tool for creating car paint.
Worldwide users of V-Ray for Maya will be happy to soak up the newly uploaded videos before getting their hands on the new release following a recent tour of V-Ray for Maya 2.0 that only reached North America and Canada.
Studios have already been using the upgrade in production, Scott Metzger, VFX artist at Method Studios is enthusiastic about the new features: “Here at Method we have been using V-Ray for Maya since the beginning of its development. It has had huge success in house for feature and commercial work large and small”.
