Young director set to further animation career with prestigious position at Pixar Animation Studios
The director of the Blender Foundation’s most recent open movie project, Sintel, has revealed that he has been offered a 12-month resident TD position at the wildy successful animation studio, Pixar.
Starting in September, the role will be working in Pixar’s Camera & Staging department.
“I’ll be working on an actual film in production, involved in the kind of work that’s also sometimes called ‘layout’ or ‘previs’,” Levy tells BlenderNation.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that I owe this opportunity almost completely to Sintel,” he continues. “When I had my interview with the guys at Pixar, basically that’s all we talked about!”
Sintel was released online in October last year and was created using open-source 3D app, Blender.
