The Foundry releases Ocula 3.0
Visual effects software developer The Foundry announces the latest release of its stereo plug-in toolset for Nuke
The Foundry has released the latest version of its stereo plug-in toolset for Nuke, commenting that it is the ‘most significant upgrade to date’.
The software has been continually developed since its original release three years ago. The growth in stereo-3D during that time has provided the opportunity to improve Ocula’s efficiency and workflow.
The Ocula 3.0 release includes tools to help mis-focused camera pairs and re-time in stereo as well as various workflow improvements and tweaks to speed up the software’s use in general.
The Foundry’s CEO Bill Collis comments, “The Foundry aims to innovate in the area of high end visual effects and invests heavily in research and the support of emerging industry trends. Ocula was developed in conjunction with customers facing the reality of delivering ambitious live action stereo projects. There is no other tool like it on the market. It also reinforces Nuke, with its native stereo workflow, as the only real choice when compositing stereo 3D.”
Ocula 3.0 is available immediately and requires Nuke or NukeX; see The Foundry website for full requirements.

Ocula was refined in production on live action stereo projects such as Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides
