Rango sweeps the 10th annual VES Awards

Industrial Light & Magic’s animated Western Rango scooped up four statues at the 2012 Visual Effects Society Awards last night

The annual event, which recognises outstanding VFX artistry in 23 categories of film, animation, television, commercials, special venues and video games, awarded ILM’s Rango four gongs, while Martin Scorsese’s Oscar contender Hugo nabbed two.

Other big winners included Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Other highlights from the event included a surprise appearance by Martin Scorsese and comic-book icon Stan Lee was also present to accept the VES 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award.
