Meet the younger Mike and Sulley in a teaser for the Disney/Pixar prequel to Monsters Inc
Monsters University tells the story of how Mike Wazowski and Sulley became friends during their college years at scare school.
Pixar started designing younger versions of the two main characters in 2008 and development work has been going on ever since then!
The difference in the characters is subtle but obvious when you see the 2001 versions: (That’s right, 2001, can you believe that Monsters Inc is over a decade old?) Mike is smaller with bigger eyes and less freckles, and Sully’s thinner, with shiny fur and rounder eyes.
There for four versions of the animation, with slightly different lines, each improvised by the voice talent, Billy Crystal.
Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.
Monsters University will be released in June next year.
