Cool CG art: Macro Ladybird
3D artist Denis Bodart showcases Macro Ladybird, created using 3ds Max, ZBrush, V-Ray, Photoshop
This beautiful CG ladybird was created by character modeller/texturer and a motion designer Denis Bodart.
The detail in this macro image is truly astounding – take a closer look at the images below.
“I used to work in videogames as a character modeller and texturer, then I spent a few years working as a 3D broadcast artist,” says Denis Bodart. “Now I am a 3D generalist and motion designer based in London.”
“This image took about three weeks to complete.”
“The aspect I enjoyed the most was finding references – ladybirds look much more interesting, but not as pretty, at close range. I enjoy looking at other people’s images and feeling jealous of their work; it motivates me to do more.”
Mr Ladybird was modelling in Maya and set up in 3ds Max and V-Ray. ZBrush and Photoshop were also used.
