I am a V7900 owner.
I primarily use autodesk entertainment suite 2012 for game design and animation.
I chose this card because it tackles the quadro 4000 in few review benchmark while it is superior to the quadro 4000 in others.

One in the other they are the same. ATI offer a tad better solution for Open GL while Quadro offer a tad better solution for Direct X.
Regardless who is slightly better in what real world performance and execution. The ATI V7900 offer more features than Nvidia 4000 whereas you can plug more screens which I like for my workflow, I open multiple programs at once such as max/ photoshop and more across 3 screens.
Also, at the time I bought my ATI v7900, there were reviews or posts of quadro 4000 users that the card was somewhat overheating but still well functionning.
Last but not least, They are both 3D capable but utilize differemt methodology. You will find more screen and brands adapted for Quadro 3D than for ATI 3D.

Those cards are priced and stated for semi pro to professionals though if you are a student in game designthat does not play heavy 3D game all the time then get one of these two, they will never disappoint and your workflow improve in dense mesh in max/maya/mudbox and perhaps softimage (I do not use too much so cannot certify.

I personally jumped from a GTX8800 to the V7900 and I experienced a dramatic improvement froma old gaming card to this pro V7900 card.
