Friday Animation Fun: Dum Spiro
The spirit of classic Warner Bros shorts shines through this glorious romp by five students at Esma’s animation school

From the WB-inspired opening ident to the short’s last seconds, it’s obvious that Dum Spiro is a love letter to the classic cartoon shorts of Warner Bros. It’s the work of five students from the Montpellier-based animation campus of Esma (Ecole Superieure des Metiers Artistiques): Boris Cailly, Brieuc Guenole, Jean-Baptiste Hardion, Thomas Lemoine and Sébastien Wackowiez.

The short’s name, incidentally, comes from the Roman proverb “Dum spiro, spero”, translated roughly as “While there’s life, there’s hope”.
