Default Looking for a graphics tablet

Hi all,

I'm currently looking for a good graphics tablet to use for 3D work (3ds Max is my usual program at the minute). I've got a Wacom on my list at the moment but I'm not sure exactly what I'm supposed to be looking for (other than a good amount of pressure levels). Can anyone advise me on the features I should keep an eye out for?

Also, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using a graphics tablet alongside 3D modelling? Is it worth buying a graphics tablet? I know a lot of people have replaced their mouse with a tablet for general purposes but is it any good with 3D programs?

Thanks for any help you can give.

The wacom's are meant to be the best but I don't think there is a lot of advantage to them over a good mouse. None of the 3D artists I know use them.

That isn't to say it isn't worth buying though. I've not tried one for 3D, maybe I should ?

I use the Wacom Intuos 4 at work, where I mainly use 3D Equalizer 4, Maya and Nuke. I use it 99% of the time and only really use my mouse absent-mindedly. I find a tablet and pen much more comfortable to use and way more precise.

At hom, I use a Bamboo, it's only an A6 and I find it a bit too small, an A5 tablet is fine for my needs

Thanks for the replies guys. I'd like to be able to be more precise so maybe a tablet is the way to go.

By any chance has anyone used the Trust Flex tablet? Is it any good?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Richard but I'm not sure if a tablet is even right for me just yet, let alone going out and paying £200 for one!

I'm just about to read the review though, so it might end up changing my mind!
