Ha ha. Never used in on the Amiga - I'm a Mac man through and through (having a job in publishing will do that to you).

Hi Fiercehairdo

Like many others said, the 8.5 version on mac was not functioning properly.

Still though, this doesn't answer your question regarding which is better. LW can be very frustrating.

I do would like to point out something though. I use LW, Modo, C4D, SI, Maya and Houdini. Yes allot, i have been in this business since the start. The point being there is no one solution software. believe it or not, every software has it's "disadvantages" and when they appear they are really frustrating. take Modo for instance, the modeling there is fluid and excellent. that's how LW should have been. but it doesn't replace LW at all. you'll use for 80% of the tasks. but try the shading, you'll strangle your self with a shoe lace. yeah you can produce excellent renders and they the shaders have lots of power, but it's not made for large scale production, period. the list goes on for the animation and everything else. The point here is not to attack modo. but to tell you that the reason behind all those images is not the software, it's the artist.

C4D has it's shortcomings and you'll feel it. you might win on one end but you'll loose on the other end. that's the case with every program. that's why C4D still sells, SI sells, Modo sells, and LW sells even though it's ancient. Believe it or not, i still use LW modeler, ancient and stupid you say, it's kicks all the other softwares i tell you. Modo better? yes, but sadly it doesn't have the years behind Modeler. and if you think LW isn't stable, your in for a big surprise

Just my 2 cents of worthless advice
Cheers

The 64-bit Cocoa version of LW 9.6.1 is now feature-set, so it's now a case of debugging and testing. When it's released, I'm pretty confident that it will be one of (if not the) most stable and useful version of LW on Mac, ever.

Although you might have to wait a little while for your favourite plug-ins to catch up.

Default Modo among the others

As I'v used many of 3d packages, suggest you using of Modo. Its ideal for high resolution image modeling and combining with photography. Very intuitive and affordable when you get familiar with the UI. In addition it introduced nice animation and character modeling tools in the newest version, 601. Sorry for my english.
