My go
OK, so this is me. 36 years old, married with two kids (as in I have two kids, not as in Im married to two kids). My wife is French/Sicilian, and so once in a while my life is utter hell as I have to deal with her French arogance and Cosa Nostra principles.... yikes... when she makes me an offer, I really cant refuse. Badda bing, Badda boom Er, well, I have been and probably always will be a puppeteer by trade, learning my skills both on the job and at Jim Hensons... Its been a wide and varied carreer, and one of the highlights was the years I spent in Paris doing realtime CG character animation at Medialab (providing digital puppeteering techniques to trigger morph targets on real time characters. If any of you used to watch Nickeloedon in the UK in the mid nineties, Bert the fish was me.... Anyway, to cut a long story short, when I left the channel, I decided to really learn CG from the ground up, so I spent my last pennies on 48 Gnomon DVD's and the rest is history (well to me anyway). I have no real area of expertise at the mo, but I really enjoy mechanical stuff like robots and big fighting machines. Syd Mead and Ryan Church are big influences to me, and when I get time I hope to turn one of their concept images into a CG scene (for my own benefit). After 18 years of smoking, I quit last year and I now go to the gym every morning for lots of running, CV and weights... I changed my diet completley and as a result I am now the worst kind of ex smoker there is..... So, thats me in a nutshell... ![]() Oh, and this is the only real image of me that I am happy to put on-line. I made him/me for the Arrdman Lip sync tute a while back in the mag so that I could see what I would look and sound like as a toon... I really dont watch much TV, but I do watch the following with a passion: Battlestar Galactica (The new one) The Soprano's (season 6 starts March 12th on HBO chaps) The West Wing (They have pulled the plug on it now but it still rocks) The Daily show with John Stewart Lost (although midway thru season 2 and I am getting really bored) I am a PADI AOW (Advanced open water) scuba diver, and I can't wait to get wet this summer, and my only real vice these days is Earl grey tea and a good movie. Although its a crap film, Into the blue holds a special place in my heart.... Fit women look even fitter in ...... er, thats another thread, probably for another forum as well... ops: I built a cinema in my home 6 years ago, and due to the fact that we had a mate sleeping in there for the last 4 months, I have hardly used it. He finally moved out this weekend so I hope to make up for a lot of lost movie time in there over the coming weeks.... starting now with Ghost in the shell 2 this evening. Thats me, so who are you and what are you up to....? Oh, did Go Karting last week for the first time ever, and I HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! |

Well here we are again!
"Oh look I found a hat... again" ![]() Shortly after I promptly left that hat (my favourite) on a train. Idiot. Here's my little workspace at home: http://www.ajcgi.co.uk/xs/desk.jpg What's under the desk but was on top like so: http://www.ajcgi.co.uk/xs/caaase.jpg http://www.ajcgi.co.uk/xs/caaase2.jpg I'd give you specs but I can't be arsed. Quick. No really. It makes my nether regions lengthen. I currently work as a 3d guy, sometime wearing hats, sometimes not. I am at one with XSI. It's a love hate thing. I love it, it hates me. My main influences are Google image search and the promise of being paid  I used to be really into anime. Like REALLY but somehow it is wearing off leaving me feeling quite naked. Though I do enjoy a bit of Stand Alone Complex and Noir, though I keep getting distracted by Lost. Me likey but no see on TV before, so am catchy up. Favourite films: Donny Darko (finally worked out what is going on when I watched it the 3rd time Saturday) Belleville Rendezvous Spirited Away Music: PJ Harvey Pearl Jam System of a Down Prodigy Kate Bush <- didn't see that coming huh? Violent Femmes The Moldy Peaches My ambition is to own another hat, and then take over the office bit by bit until I own it all and can afford a second hat in the city, perhaps with an ear-muffling annexe. |

My name is Simon Joyce and i live near Glasgow in Scotland.
I am 42 years old and married with 4 kids and a cat. (you can work out which is the least trouble.) i have been unemployed (or maybe unemployable  ) since completing an HND in Filmcraft & Animation last year. I spent my 20's doing crap jobs to support my motorbike racing. then got married and life changed (for the better obviously, just in case the wife reads this). I became interested in 3D about 5 years ago and starting to learn in the house using Maya PLE. After a while i decided to go to college to get taught how to do it properly in order to get a job working with 3D. (no luck there then  ) I now use 3D MAX 7 to do what i do. I like Sci-fi films, Alien, Star Wars (the first 3 mainly)etc and Westerns, Sergoi Leone especially. Music varies from Duran Duran to Guns & Roses through a bit of Kylie (i'm allowed a calendar but i have to keep it in the cupboard. ) I bought a Guitar last year but never seem to have time to learn to play it.I have a website @ www.simjoycreations.co.uk where you can see some of my work and offer me money etc. |

![]() Name: Erin Munkacsy I'm a 25-year-old American girl who's lived in the Chicago suburbs since I was five. I like it here, except for the winters which are too long and frequently too cold. 3D package: 3ds max Favorite movies: Matrix (first), Star Wars (original trilogy), Lord of the Rings, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Batman Begins, Casablanca Favorite music: Lately I've been listening to Evanescence, Korn, Marilyn Manson, classical, and the Lord of the Rings soundtracks. Latest News: I'm continuing to advance my 3ds Max skills, learning to do UVs properly at the moment. I just got a Wacom tablet -- lots of fun! I'm working on getting back into drawing and doing figure sketches. |

Ho, new people! Good to meet everyone. I'm Bob,
I live in God's Country, England and I'm an occasional freelance Lightwaver sculpting sci fi characters in 3D, occasionally laughing out loud in my attic room. Well, a man needs a hobby  Currently working on a short animation that will take me 30 years to complete. Play bass in a band, love Guinness and spend all my disposable income travelling. Spend too much time watching films by directors such as Kubrick, Tarkovsky and Miyazaki. Currently obsessed by a Japanese movie called "All About Lily Chou Chou". Into Beatles, Doors, Bowie, the Smiths and mellowing out into alt country. ![]() Outdated pic showing Rian Beno, Bob, Dave and long suffering fan ![]() Wee alien friend. Let's boogie... |

I am Greg Faherty, 40 years old and live in NYC, Brooklyn actually. Have always been fascinated with sci fi/fantasy and have always been driven by a need to 'create' even though I have never considered myself and artist. I am in advertising, work for an agency on boring brands by day and by night I huddle over my workstations which sometimes drives my wife crazy. Got married last August.
I became interested in 3d through video games and then discovered Blender, soon after that I found 3D world in a newstand and promptly subscribed. I currently use Maya 7, Motion Builder and am stalking copies of z brush for modeling and Vue for landscapes and cities. oh yea, I also just took the plunge on Renderman for maya. I have a Mac Laptop but also just bought a used Boxx workstation that is great even if it is a few years old. influences? too many to list but most of the favorites (aliens, Marc Caro, Jean Pierra Jeunot, Frank miller, old comics, tolkein, Frank Herbert, George RR Martin, love the Sci Fi channel here in the US, and my tolerance for bad movies on TV is pretty endless, I frequently have something bad on in the background when I am working. My project. The working title at the moment is The Crusades. I intend it to be episodic, animated science fiction story that I am going to publish in web friendly format and maybe even ipod format. I have no interest in some sort of political statement about the actual crusades but needed a vehicle to explain centuries of pointless warfar between two 'entities' and organized religion and the intolerance it can breed seemed perfect. The story is that two 'societies' have been at war with each other for centuries and that our heros want nothing more than to just get on with life but are constantly caught between the two juggernauts. I want it to feel a little like a western but more like a modern middle ages, where feudal societies have managed to continue due to the focus on war. I don't have a whole lot to share at the moment as I am in completely over my head but soldiering on with the creation of characters etc. As i render some stills and scenes I will share if anyone is interested. oh, when not completely absorbed with my 'project' I race motorcycles (roadracing) and used to play quite a lot of rugby-hooker. but being 40 and with two knee surgeries just don't have what it takes anymore. I will come back when I am not at work and post a photo or two. Lastly let me say that I have enjoyed this site immensly and feel like I know a lot of you by reading your posts even though I actually don't post very often. Mostly just trying to learn. cheers, G. http://www.mostromarketing.com/mostroracing |
