Remarkably, the 3D modelling, rendering and animation suite Shade is now more than 20 years old. To celebrate, we’ve teamed up with publishers Mirye Software to give away ten copies of the brand new version, Shade 10, worth $249 each.
Originally developed in Japan and now also widely available to a western audience, Shade features everything you could want from a 3D package. As well as robust modelling tools, there are a plethora of more specialist utilities available. For example, the dedicated Hair Salon enables you to grow, style and colour hair, while the particle physics system makes the creation of smoke, fire and explosions simple. As you’d expect, there are also powerful material and texture options, now including parallax bump mapping and real-time surface preview.
New features in version 10 include:
- Unique curved surface modelling and traditional poly mesh tools
- A new, interactive 3D manipulator and improved 3D cursor tools
- Multipass layer-based rendering
- An expanded Hair Salon for hair and fur
- Enhanced Toon rendering for illustrations, comics and manga
