We had a great show at SIGGRAPH last week with plenty of interest in the magazine, a whole bunch of you subscribed and had a chat – here are some photos from where it all happened…

3D World had a great subscription offer which many took advantage of. We were also giving away an iPad, as touted by Mental Roy – all you had to was have your pass scanned. Well, we say that’s all you had to do, but it did take about 8 minutes for the scanner to work each time. Though time is precious, it’s not too precious to take the time to try and win an iPad…

And when Roy wasn’t touting our wares he also loved to take the time to participate in a little photo-bombing:

The main attraction was issue 146, shown here alongside our sister mag Imagine FX:

A couple of our covers stars, including the robot from issue 136 were also in attendance to brighten up the stand – you need all the help you can get when you have the likes of Pixar around the corner, not to mention the ever-busy Animation Mentor stand just a couple of tables away…

Finally, thanks to everyone for a great show!

It’s day one of the exhibition and the stands are looking great – there’s plenty going on including presentations and master classes.

Every year it feels like there is an undeclared battle for who can have the biggest and best stand – take a look at this selection and make your own mind up.

The MPC stand is looking pretty impressive this year and is showing a range of work from the last couple of years, including the more recent Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2.

Always a great looking stand, it’s looking particularly sharp this year, with well-attended sessions and presentations on the other side. The Autodesk stand always feels like the biggest…

…However, the Nvidia stand is HUGE. It feels like a main stage, slap-bang in the middle of the floor.

This is how big it is, it even sneaks into our other shots. The Maxon stand is standing pretty tall though, they have a good presence following the recent release of Cinema 4D R13.
